Roland Martin explains on how Trump is the white backlash against Obama and every civil rights gains of the 60s. He's not wrong, folks. Don't underestimate the motivation and lengths that hate will go to. It's really sad, and awful.
The reality, too, in America where racism is concerned can be summed up pretty well by a phrase I learned in the Army: complacency kills.
Complacency fucking kills folks. We must be ever vigilant against racism and racists. This is why we must actively practice anti-racism: because the racists relentlessly practice racism.
Racists don't go, "ahhh, it's christmas I'll stop waging war on people because of color." Nope. They don't take days off from being bigots. The keep on bigotting every day.
Complacency kills. We must actively root out, ostracize, and, whenever possible, prosecute white supremacist individuals, groups, and institutions. Plain and simple.
I, personally, am guilty of having been complacent. Somewhere along the way I underestimated the tenacity of the "old way of thinking"... maybe you did too.
That's why it's been so effective in attacking our nation as it has so in these last 10 maga years... we rested on our laurels.
This time, after we squash it again and restore the rights and grounds that the magat movement has rolled back, we need to be way more thorough to enshrined true equality in our institutions and constitution and culture to a degree that is "bulletproof" so to speak, and not so easy to attack and undo as our complacency has proven to be in this last 10 years. No slack. # No more comebacks this time.
