They're Nazi-esque On Purpose

This administration is literally flexing a Nazi-centric slogan.

The phrase "one of ours, all of yours" is a fascist rallying cry and slogan for collective punishment with historical links to the Spanish Falange movement and Nazi Germany. It implies a hierarchy where the life of a member of "our" group is valued far above the lives of all members of "your" group.

Origin and Meaning:

Spanish Falange: The phrase originated with the Falange Española, the Spanish Fascist movement founded in the early 1930s by José Antonio Primo de Rivera. The original Spanish translates to "one of ours is worth many of yours".

Nazi Germany: The sentiment was widely used by the Nazis and other fascist regimes to justify brutal reprisals against civilian populations for acts of resistance. A common policy was the execution of dozens or hundreds of local civilians in retaliation for the killing or wounding of a single German soldier.

Collective Punishment: The phrase embodies the concept of collective punishment, a practice where an entire group is punished for the actions of an individual. This practice is explicitly forbidden by Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which states that "no civilian person may be punished for an offense he or she has not personally committed".

Recent Usage

The phrase has recently appeared in public discourse in the United States, most notably on a podium behind South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem during an event, leading to widespread public scrutiny and condemnation linking the slogan to extremist ideologies and historical fascism.
